  19.     I'm tearing my hair out here. ;-)
  20.     I've been trying to configure MS-DOS Kermit 3.14, the version before
  21. this most recent update, to connect and support SLIP on our current system.
  22. I'm using a USRobotics 28.8 modem, and getting some very strange results.

  24.     First of all, a description of what needs to be done:

  26.     It connects, then generates a "Username:" prompt. After the user
  27. has entered it, they then need to enter a password at the "Password:" prompt.
  28. A third prompt requires them to enter "slip-default", after which they can,
  29. in theory, use bootp or simply be given an IP number by the server.

  31.     Now, it would seem reasonable that one should be able to make this 
  32. work.  But I've been having problems with dropped characters, and simply 
  33. getting the consarned script to connect correctly, as "output" commands fail
  34. to output correctly, giving the full text rather than, say, a $(environment)
  35. variable substitution, and seem incapable of sending a carriage return.
  36. Given this, the entire scripting situation is a right royal mess.
  37.     Any tips, suggestions, script samples would be greatly appreciated, as
  38. I've been over the .BWR, .HLP, and .UPD files, along with Network.doc, so often
  39. that I'm seeing them in my dreams. ;-) 
  40.     I've probably missed something blatantly obvious, but I for the life
  41. of me can't find it.
